Happy Anniversary
Yesterday was our anniversary
24 years!
I have been married longer than I was single,
Yikes
Anyway people seem impressed and ask us how we do it
So here you go dear internet just for you .
The secret to a long marriage.
Sometimes, two people ,after living together a long time, dont like each other ALL the TIME.
They annoy each other.
I know they love each other, dedicate their lives to one another, blah blah blah
Yet
Sometimes, they get an urge to slam a fork in the other ones head for breathing through his Stupid nose so loud.
But .....
Wait for it here is the wisdom......
You continue to be polite.
Pretend its an annoying coworker you have to put up with to keep your job.
Pretend it is an annoying family member during the holidays.
Pretend it is a random stranger who is in line behind you and making that awful noise
I promise, the urge will pass and you will like each other again.
He will do something sweet and you will forget all about that urge to scream
For the love of all that is good in the world will you just shut up! Shut up! Shut up!
He will run and get you a Starbucks if you are working or surprise you by saying he likes your laugh.
It will be something small and insignificant just like the nose breathing and you will like him again.
I promise
And there you have it.
PS I was quite shocked when after reading this to him and laughing, cackling evil like out loud he agreed with me. Surely he couldn't feel the same way about ME at times?

yep I feel the same about mine, I like to have my own space, infact if we spend too much time together theres normally trouble lol and I know he feels the same way as me, I think orginally we were never meant to settle down, society just made us, so most of us are miserable lol but hey gotta make the most of what you have and how long you been married? happy anniversary?
ReplyDeletethank god for man cave right? im sure he loves his time alone as much as you do hehe... congrads on your happy life together You make a good couple love u both gramma
ReplyDeleteoh my i forgot to say 24 years together
ReplyDeleteVery well put. Makes sense to me. Except the snoring. My God the snoring! I also say if the snoring is loud enough to hurt the spouse's ears then it is ok for one of them (usually me) to go sleep in the guest room... : )
ReplyDeleteomg we so dont sleep in same room that is definate key to happiness
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the guest room isn't just for guests. I move back and forth depending on how bad the work schedule is or snoring. Congratulations! I have been reading your blog for 1 1/2+yrs now. It's fun and pretty spot on. I came over from Miss Ann.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations. I have been divorced longer than I was married. So sad. Should of started ready your blog sooner. Have a great day. Congrats again.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations :) I'm happy for you guys and I agree w/ what you said. Although, for my husband and I we have to release the pressure valve once in a while. So we'll go off on eachother for something stupid and makeup 10 minutes later...great release. lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments and you Kristen a loyal reader I wish I had as many fans as her although they go kind of wild over there.
ReplyDeleteHi Tammy
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! We've only been married half as long as you, hope we are still going strong in another 12 years.
I was looking up Wedding Anniversary Gifts for another friend who has just reached 30 happy years with her hubby.
Apparently the traditional gift is Opals or the modern is Musical Instruments for your 24th anniversary... I found this lovely quote for you....
"Using music as a medium for communicating deep emotions can bring people much closer together. Every musical instrument has its own unique form and voice. The gift of music, or a musical instrument emphasizes the harmony that comes from carefully combined individuals." from http://meaningofgifts.com/
lol we arent very musical i cant imagine giving him anthing like that maybe i will make him a play list
